weekend getaway

Why is it that there are so many weekends where we have nothing going on, and then BAM! Everything happens at once. We were sad to miss some very important events on Saturday: Allie's cousin Mary Foster's 5th birthday party, Chase and Ethan's 1st birthday bash, and Sara and Ryan's party in Nashville! But we did have a great trip!! It was exactly what I needed after a very busy first 2 1/2 weeks of school. Wes had a MS/Parkinson's disease conference at the Ritz Carlton in Amelia Island, FL, so I tagged along. I can't believe I didn't take pictures, though. Shame on me. But it was super nice and hard to come back home--I definitely could've used a few more days there!!!

This is just a glimpse of the resort. Picture me parked in one of those lounge chairs--for 2 days straight. We did go to the beach, but I guess I've been spoiled by the beautiful beaches of the gulf coast. The Atlantic just didn't do it as much for me. This was a much more happening place, with a live band and bar just a few steps away.
Unfortunately, there was a little excitement here. Wes had just slipped out of his conference to bring me a snack, and minutes after he left, a girl started seizing and fell and cracked her head on the tile ground. It looked really bad to me--the physician on staff and paramedics were called and took her away. I was thinking, there's a roomful of neurologists very nearby! If you have to have a seizure, I guess that would be the best place. Hopefully she is okay--it was very scary!
But we had a great time--we hardly ever get to go away, just the two of us!
